Q: Will Great NorthWest FCU branches become available to SVCU members and vice versa?

Not immediately. Until system conversions occur, members will need to continue to utilize their local branch. We will communicate when cross-branch access becomes available.

Q: Will the Port Angeles branch of Strait View Credit Union stay open?

Yes. SVCU will remain open and continue serving members with the same staff.

Q: Why does a merger need regulatory approval?

Credit unions are highly regulated to protect members. Mergers require oversight and transparent democratic approval to ensure they are beneficial to members. The National Credit Union Association (NCUA) approved the merger on March 31, 2026.

Q: When will changes start happening?

Most operational changes will not take place until after the membership vote and a system conversion. Any changes will be communicated.

Q: When will the merger be finalized?

Unknown at this time. The next step in the merger process will be the Strait View Credit Union membership vote. This vote will take place on May 27th.

Q: Will all the team members at Strait View Credit Union remain employed?

Yes! We are excited to grow in membership and in team members. All staff at SVCU are valuable employees and will retain their employment.

What's Happening

A proposed merger was approved by the NCUA. The next step in the approval process is a membership vote of the members of Strait View Credit Union. If approved, Strait View Credit Union will become a division of Great NorthWest FCU. This merger expands services and strengthens long-term stability. Timeline is pending approval, then system integration before a full transition.

What You Need to Know

Your accounts remain safe and federally insured by NCUA
Your current login credentials, card, PIN and other access will continue to work (until notified otherwise)
Branch staff you know and trust remain in place ready to assist you and answer questions
No imediate action or changes are taking place regarding your account

Online and mobile banking experience may look different. Both credit unions utilize the same platform, so changes should be minimal.
Statements, mailed correspondence, disclsoures and notices may contain a variation of the SVCU and/or GNWFCU logo
New products and services will be made available
SVCU members may be able to access accounts at GNWFCU branches and vice versa, dates TBD
